Tips for Cooking with CBD & Hemp-Infused Products

You might be thinking, “How exactly do I use these products?” or “How do I get the most out of of them?”

It’s not as complicated as you may think!

Here at Budz Butter, we wanted to give you options outside of the conventional ways to take your daily dose of CBD. Our family loves to cook, so finding a way to implement Budz Butter products into this was something we really focused on. This is why we have created products that you can easily add into your every day meals.

How to cook with our Butter, Peanut Butter, Olive Oil & Coconut Oil

We do not recommend cooking on direct heat contact (i.e. sautéing on high heat), as this will diminish the CBD quality quicker than low heat. To ensure the strength of cannabinoids and to maximize your purchase, it is best to sauté with a standard oil (olive, coconut, peanut, canola, etc) and then drizzle Budz Butter Oil or Butter on your meal right before serving.

Baking with the products is fine, as this is not a direct, concentrated heat source.

When cooking and baking with our products, there are few steps to take to ensure you get the desired dose of CBD in your finished product.

Every Budz Butter food product is dosed the same based on product volume, not by weight. In short, 1 teaspoon of Peanut Butter contains the same amount of CBD as 1 teaspoon of Coconut Oil.

However, 1 ounce of Peanut Butter will have less CBD in it compared to 1 ounce of Coconut Oil due to the differences in product densities. This is why everything is dosed by volume.

Step One:

Ask yourself, how many milligrams of CBD do I want per serving of the finished product?

We recommend a target of 20-30mg per serving to start, but you can increase if needed.

Step Two:

Determine how many servings you are going to have in this recipe.

Step Three:

Determine how much total CBD you will need for the recipe by multiplying step one and two.

Step Four:

Determine how much overall butter, peanut butter, olive oil or coconut oil is required for the batch.

Then decide if you need to cut the batch with a non-Budz Butter product, so you achieve the desired CBD potency on the finished product.

 Quick Conversions:

3 Teaspoons = 1 Tablespoon

2 Tablespoons = 1 Ounce (Volume)

¼  Cup = 2 oz Volume / 4 Tablespoons

½ Cup = 4 oz Volume / 8 Tablespoons

¾ Cup = 6 oz Volume / 12 Tablespoons

1 Cup = 8oz Volume / 16 Tablespoons / one entire 8oz container of a Budz Butter product

Recipe Example Without Cutting

So we decided to make some CBD-Infused Brownies

Target CBD Potency Per Serving = 20mg

Total Servings = 20

Amount Of CBD Needed = 400mg (20x20)

Total Budz Butter Input = 4oz or ½ cup (400mg CBD total / 100mg CBD per oz)

½ cup unsalted butter

1 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup all purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking powder

This recipe works seamlessly because all we need is 400mg of CBD, which is 4oz /  ½ cup of Budz Butter Unsalted Butter. There is no need to cut this recipe with a standard unsalted butter.

Recipe Example With Cutting

This time we decided to make CBD-Infused Brownies that are going to be physically larger (about 2x larger) but still yielding 20mg of CBD per serving.

Target CBD Potency Per Serving = 20mg

Total Servings = 20

Amount of CBD Needed = 400 (20x20)

Total Budz Butter Input = 4oz or ½ cup (400mg CBD total / 100mg CBD per oz)

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups white sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup all purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking powder

The recipe is now calling for 1 cup of unsalted butter. A full cup of Budz Butter Unsalted Butter will increase our total CBD potency to 800mg and each serving would be 40mg of CBD; remember, we are trying to yield 20mg of CBD per serving.

To remedy this, take ½ cup of Budz Butter Unsalted Butter (this is to get desired cannabinoid content) + ½ cup of standard unsalted butter. This will give you the full cup of unsalted butter the recipe is calling for.

Now the brownies have doubled in size, but the CBD potency is consistent.
